Glossary:
· Incarceration – The state of being confined in prison; imprisonment.
· Clemency – The forgiveness of a crime or the cancellation (in whole or in part) of the penalty associated with it.
· Reprieve – To delay the impending punishment or sentence of a condemned person.
· Persecution – the systematic mistreatment of an individual or group by another individual or group, based on race, gender, sexual orientation, or beliefs that differ from those of the persecutor.
· Prosecution – The legal party responsible for presenting the case in a criminal trial against an individual accused of breaking the law.
· Capital Punishment – Another word for Death Penalty or Execution; punishment by death.
· Rehabilitation – To restore something back to it’s original state; to restore to a condition of good health.
· Restorative Justice – Is an approach to justice that focuses on the needs of the victims and the offenders, as well as the involved community, instead of satisfying abstract legal principles or punishing the offender.
· Accountability – Taking responsibility for ones actions.
